Autonomous AI

Artificial Intelligence systems designed to operate with limited ongoing human direction by making decisions and taking actions toward defined goals.

AI & Automation

In plain English

Autonomous AI describes systems that can keep working after a person gives them a goal or set of constraints. Instead of requiring instructions for every step, the system can evaluate what is happening, choose an action, and continue based on the results.

Example

An autonomous monitoring system could watch infrastructure for problems, investigate unusual activity, take approved corrective actions, and escalate only when human judgment is required.
