Embeddings

Numerical representations that encode the meaning or features of data so computers can compare items by similarity.

AI & Automation

In plain English

An embedding turns something like a sentence, image, or product into a list of numbers. Items with similar meaning tend to have similar numerical representations, which makes embeddings useful for semantic search, recommendations, and retrieval systems.

Example

A support system could convert help-center articles and a user's question into embeddings, then find the articles whose meanings are closest to the question even when they do not share the same exact words.
