In plain English
A generative model uses patterns learned from data to produce content in response to input, such as a written request or an image. LLMs are one type, focused on language. Other models generate images, audio, or video, and some work across several formats.
Example
A startup's design tool takes a product description and generates several draft illustrations. The team reviews the results and selects one to refine for a campaign.
