MFA

Multi-factor authentication: an authentication method that requires more than one distinct type of factor before access is granted.

Cloud & Systems

In plain English

MFA stands for multi-factor authentication. Instead of proving your identity with only a password, you must provide evidence from at least two different factor types, such as something you know, something you have, or something you are.

Example

After entering a password, an employee may also need to approve a sign-in on a registered security key or authenticator device before accessing company systems.
